Art Mediums: I’ve worked with nearly every painting and drawing medium as well as wood, found objects, collage, and ceramics

@cmehitt

Carolyn Hitt is a "social expressionist"-- a term she uses to clarify that her ultimate purpose is to bring about creative involvement through community-engaged practices. From her brainchild, The Relevant Unknowns, a yearbook-style directory of artists, activists, and innovators living/working in the Seattle area, to Tuesday Teas at Blue Cone Studios, her pre-covid weekly experiment in radical hospitality, Hitt's focus has always been to make space for those who are not already in the spotlight. Content to work behind the scenes, her prolific creative practice (curating, painting, sculpture, community building, etc) includes activating community around emerging artists across disciplines. Forever Safe Spaces, her newest endeavor, is a platform that directly addresses both housing instability and income inequality as they directly impact the artists most marginalized within our communities. She is motivated by urgency, passionate about rebuilding better and more inclusive systems, and inspired by the promise of creating beyond boundaries. Find her on the IG at @cmehitt.
