Public Display Art Gallery will open their first group show in a year with a diverse cohort of local artists with global influences. In some ways, it's the alphabet group show with about half of the artists identifying as BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA. The show opens with an artist reception on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at ArtLove Salon.

In case there was any doubt about about Monyee Chau's race and ethnicity their website is www.ChineseBornAmerican.com. Their work has been shown locally and globally at the Wing Luke Museum, Museum of Northwest Art, Mori Art Museum, and Copelouzos Museum.

Eliaichi Kimaro is multi-racial and multi-disciplinary artist born to a South Korean mother and Tanzanian father. Kimaro shared her experience of growing up in a multi-racial family during a TEDx Seattle Talk in 2017.

As for Saina Heshmati, she was born in Tehran, studied Fine Art in Paris and settled in Seattle in 2013.

"Borders are defined as areas that 'form their own outer boundaries,'" she told Saatchi Art. "Sometimes we travel and cross these borders to explore and to find the excitement carry inside and sometimes we are forced to pass these I say lines, you read borders. As a human being, I've had to experience migration, more than once in my life. The will to take such big decisions, was not often involved by choice, even if it seems like it."

Chau, Kimaro and Heshmati are three of the 13 artists featured in the new group show, curated by William Worrall and Marty Griswold.

Live music by D'Vonne Lewis, Rochelle House and Tim Kennedy will set the soundtrack for the evening. Complimentary snacks and refreshments will be served. RSVP here.
