Multi-instrumentalist Rachel Nesvig brings her Pearl Strings Quartet to ArtLove Salon on Friday. Nesvig will be performing along with violinists Janet Utterback, violist Maria Ritzenthaler, and cellist Nicole Williams. Doors open at 5 PM, the performance commences at 5:30 PM, followed by a reception at 6:30 PM at the Downtown Seattle multi-disciplinary arts gallery and performance destination.

Nesvig has trained and performed with the violin, viola, and the Hardanger Fiddle, Norway’s national folk instrument. Nesvig lived in Norway for five years as a youth. She would go on to become the first graduate with distinction in the Hardanger Fiddle from St. Olaf College (named after Olaf II, the King and patron saint of Norway) in 2007. She is one of a handful of Hardanger Fiddle performers and teachers in the region.

According to a statement, “Rachel is an active freelance violinist and teacher in the Seattle area. Currently, she plays with 5th Ave Theatre, Symphony Tacoma, Seattle Rock Orchestra, NOCCO, and several other local ensembles. She regularly subs with the Pacific Northwest Ballet and Auburn Symphony. Rachel’s chamber music credits include her work with Arcobaleno Strings and Puget Sound Strings.

“She also performs internationally, playing classical, pop, and folk music in places like Norway, China, South Korea, and Kenya. An active recording artist, Rachel plays for Seattle Live Entertainment, LLC and Seattle Music Inc., in addition to recording tracks for local bands, composers, international movies, and video games. She has collaborated through performance or studio work with artists such as Queens of the Stone Age, Laufey, Beck, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Who, Sigur Rós, Kesha, Andrew Joslyn, Father John Misty, Magik*Magik Orchestra, Sir Mix-a-Lot, Big Star, Victoria Contreras, Evanescence, Chaos and the Cosmos, The Rumba Kings, Sera Cahoone, and Cirque Musique.”
