Public Display Art is teaming up with Vermillion Gallery on Capitol Hill promoting LGBTQIA+ artists with its latest show, Pride on Public Display. The show opens at Vermillion Gallery this Thursday from 5 to 8 pm during the Capitol Hill Second Thursday Art Walk.

Vermillion is also celebrating its 18th anniversary with a reception this Wednesday from 6 to 9 pm. Diana Adams opened Vermillion in the summer of 2008.

Pride on Public Display, now in its sixth year, is the brainchild of Public Display Art founder and publisher Marty Griswold. This year’s show runs through June 24. This year’s show features posters designed by Jeremy Goodie (AKA, Jeremy the Creative), Thania Guerra (AKA, Santa Mercita), Sloane Miller (AKA, SloMilli), Lane Bestold and Marisa Ladelle Cole.

“Five artists. Five posters. Five distinct points of view. Tender and defiant, personal and political, joyous and celebratory,” Griswold said in the June-August issue of Public Display Art. “They do not speak in one voice—and that is exactly the point. PRIDE holds many meanings. Is it a place for debauchery? A defiant ongoing protest? A celebration of love? A sense of belonging? Yes, yes, yes, yes...and so much more.”

Goodie is a Seattle-based, Houston-born visual artist whose work spans multiple mediums, including watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and digital illustration. Focusing primarily on portraiture, his art explores themes of Black queer identity, tenderness, intimacy, and self-discovery.

Guerra is an Honduran-American artist, graphic designer, and illustrator whose work centers storytelling as a path to liberation and self-expression for communities of color. Drawing inspiration from culture, music, spirituality, and ancestry, her art reimagines love, identity, and joy while exploring themes of race, sexuality, and healing.

Miller is a Seattle-based multidisciplinary artist and designer whose work fuses personal storytelling, cultural insight, and collaborative practice. Through digital art and community-driven projects, she creates immersive experiences that inspire connection and uplift communities.

Bestold is a quilter and textile, fiber, and mixed-media artist based in Seattle. His work is inspired by his surroundings, unusual textures, vibrant colors, and a fervent commitment to creating an abundant life.

Cole is a transgender artist whose work has always been autobiographical in nature—even when she couldn't say so out loud. Born in 1967 to very conservative parents, she began expressing a female identity by age four.
