REPOSADO, Spanish for “rested,” is a contradiction to the Seattle-based Afro-Latin funk band. Originally performing with three members, the group has grown to up to 15 musicians performing high energy shows around the country.

On Friday from 8-11 pm, REPOSADO will be performing at the Coliseum of Art on 5th Avenue and Pike Street in Downtown Seattle. As most Fourth Friday Downtown Seattle Art Walk galleries close at 8 pm this Friday, consider the Coliseum of Art the after-party destination.

The concert is the first in the summer live music series in the recently reopened Coliseum Theater. Tickets to concerts for the rest of the summer will be available at https://www.eventbrite.com/ starting on Monday.

Influenced by the likes of Fela Kuti, Fania All-Stars, Curtis Mayfield, and James Brown, REPOSADO blends Afro-Cuban beats, a full horn section with the sultry vocals (in English and Spanish) of frontman Jean-Paul Builes.

According to their website REPOSADO, “With frontman Jean-Paul Builes as Creative Director, their TequilaFunk stirs up a rich batch of culture, music, and dance. Their rhythm-driven and dynamic landscapes pull from the Caribbean, West Africa, Queens, and JP’s new home base in Seattle.”

The band goes on at 8pm and the next three hours will be filled with Latin rhythm, Afrobeat, funk and soul. It's a chance to DANCE YOUR ASS OFF among large-scale installations, sculpture, light, sound, and technology by artists from across the Pacific NW.

For those who attend the Seattle Downtown Art Walk (5-8 PM), DJ Ngoma Numu is a blacksmith bending and molding drum rhythms for people to dance and vibe too.

The New Orleans native, drummer, hand crafted jewelry maker, and House DJ Numu has stepped into himself as an artist and music producer after backing several acts around the country.

It's an extraordinary night for both Downtown Art Walk-goers and Seattle Art Fair attendees to experience Seattle’s art and music glory — and it’s FREE!
